Clinton was a pioneer in the movement for recreation facilities
and programs in North Carolina. His leadership to provide leisure
services through municipal government was recognized in the State of
North Carolina and throughout the Southeastern region of the United States.
He was respected by young and old alike for his professionalism and hands
on approach. His vision for quality sports facilities has continued
and strengthened the rich sports traditions of Burke County.
