Serving in the US Army, was selected to the 2nd US Army
All-Star Softball team and played in the All Army National Tournament

Returned to and graduated from Morganton High School
as President of the Senior Class.

Graduated from Lenoir Rhyne, Hickory NC

Coached the Rotary Midget Baseball team.
Coached an all-star team that finished second in the
NC State Tournament.

Supervised the baseball program each summer. During this time,
the program developed into one of the State’s leading youth baseball
programs which continued for decades. Bill’s emphasis on the
development of baseball skills as well as stressing life skills provided
a strong basis for the player’s futures.
